42 in France / official campus directory
France has eight 42 campuses. The method is shared; the daily reality is local.
The official 42 Network directory currently lists eight campuses in France: Angoulême, Le Havre, Lyon, Marseille, Mulhouse, Nice, Paris, and Perpignan. This guide keeps the common 42 model separate from the details each campus controls.

What this directory can tell you
The eight schools share the 42 project curriculum, peer-learning method, tuition-free model, and broad selection logic. They are not interchangeable. Address, transport, housing, application dates, facilities, credentials, support, language, and local company relationships belong to the campus.
One network
Start with the shared model, then choose the campus.
The useful comparison is not whether one city has the “real” 42. Paris is the historical campus; the seven partner campuses apply the network foundation in different regions and local ecosystems.
Use the common 42 guides to understand the method, Piscine, and curriculum. Use the campus pages below to compare the practical decision.
Current scope
The directory contains the campuses the network lists now.
The official directory currently shows Angoulême, Le Havre, Lyon, Marseille, Mulhouse, Nice, Paris, and Perpignan under France. A campus opening, closing, or changing its application route would require this page to change.
That is why every profile links both the network record and the campus’s own website.
How to choose
Commute and living conditions matter as much as the city name.
A 24/7 building does not make every hour usable. Calculate housing, late transport, meals, fixed work or care duties, language, recovery, and the people you can ask for support.
Then check dates and requirements with the campus before moving, resigning from work, or booking a long stay.
Credentials and outcomes
France offers more formal routes, but they are not automatic.
42 Paris publishes optional RNCP level 6 and level 7 professional-certification pathways. They require the common core plus additional projects and professional experience; they should not be presented as a conventional university degree awarded to every student.
Paris publishes a 100% hiring rate after the common core and a €47,000 average exit salary, while its narrower 2025 RNCP figures report 85% employment after six months for level 6 and 80% for level 7. Those measures describe different populations, so they should not be combined into one promise.
My boundary
Paris is first-hand; the other profiles are sourced.
I studied at 42 Paris and later worked with the network development team in its Bocal. I did not study or work at the other French campuses.
For those seven pages, I describe the official public record and mark practical questions that only the campus can answer.

Common questions
France has eight 42 campuses. The method is shared; the daily reality is local.
How many 42 campuses are currently listed in France?
The official 42 Network directory lists eight: Angoulême, Le Havre, Lyon, Marseille, Mulhouse, Nice, Paris, and Perpignan.
Are the eight campuses free?
The 42 model is presented as tuition-free. Living costs, travel, equipment outside campus, and time without paid work remain real costs.
Do all French campuses use the same admissions dates?
No. The shared model does not create one national calendar. Check the chosen campus website and application platform.
Is Paris better than a partner campus?
Paris is the historical and largest French campus, but “better” depends on housing, transport, local support, company links, facilities, and the environment in which you can sustain the work.
Can I apply to more than one campus?
Application-account and transfer rules can change. Ask the campuses before opening parallel applications or assuming an earlier online result can be reused.
Do I need Parcoursup?
42 Paris says its application route is independent from Parcoursup. Confirm the current administrative route with the specific campus you want to attend.
Does 42 Paris award a recognised qualification?
Paris publishes optional RNCP level 6 and level 7 professional-certification pathways with additional project and experience requirements. Other French campuses may offer different routes, so ask the chosen campus for the exact current title and eligibility.
Do the published employment figures guarantee a job?
No. Paris publishes results for different populations and measurement periods. Treat each figure as evidence about that defined group, not as a guarantee for every applicant or Piscine participant.
Are the campus pages official?
No. This is an independent directory. Every page links the campus and 42 Network records so time-sensitive details can be checked at source.
